Guide to EBSCO eBook Academic Collection

Logging in to EBSCO ebooks platform

  1. Go to: http://search.ebscohost.com/
  2. Login using the institutional username and password.

To search for eBooks:

1. Enter your search terms in the Find field and click the Search button

2. A Result List of eBooks related to your search terms is displayed.

3. Click an eBook Full Text link (PDF or EPUB) to read the book in the eBook Viewer tool.
4. Click the Full Download icon to check out the book and read it on your computer using Adobe Digital Editions. (See "Downloading eBooks" tab)
5. Click the Table of Contents link to view the chapters of an eBook. You can go directly to a chapter in the eBook Viewer tool by clicking on a hyperlinked chapter.

Read Online

eBooks can be viewed online in the eBook Viewer by clicking the eBook Full Text link on the Result List or Detailed Record.

  2. Click to view eBook by page widht (default).
  3. Click to view entire an page of the eBook. Click to zoom in or out.
  4. Click the arrows to turn page or enter a page number.

ePub Toolbar

View an eBook

Once you've found an eBook you'd like to read you can view it online in the eBook viewer. This is most useful when:
  1. You are still trying to decide if you want to check it out.
  2. You don't need to read the whole book, you just want to find some specific information.
  3. It is one of COM Library's eBooks with unlimited access, so you really don't need to check it out.

Viewer Tools

Above the eBook are Viewer tools:
  1. Add the eBook to your folder.
  2. Save eBook pages.
  3. email eBook pages.
  4. Grab a citation.
  5. Search for definitions of words.
  6. Export citation information to a bibliographic manager.
  7. Grab a lnk to the eBook.
  8. Share the eBook information on a social network.
  9. Download the eBook to your computer for offline reading or transferring to a portable device.

DLSAU LRC's EBSCOhost eBooks can be checked out and downloaded to a variety of devices. Here's how:



Get Adobe Digital Editions

  1. Make sure that you have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer. Adobe Digital Editions is available for free download.
  2. You will need to activate Adobe Digital Editions on your computer by creating an Adobe ID and password , and then logging into Adobe Digital Editions.
  3. If you’ve previously created an Adobe account but can’t recall your password, see the instructions from Adobe.

How to generate citation

EBSCOhost has a great citation tool you can use to cite your articles. Here's how:
  1. Perform a search.
  2. Click on the title of an eBook from your list that you want to cite.
  3. Click on the Cite icon on the right side of the item page:
  4. Citation Format will appear above the eBook cited in multiple formats. APA style is the second listed.
  5. Copy the citation and paste into your references page.
